Foundational Principles of Mental Capacity
This module introduces the foundational legal principles of mental capacity, explaining how to determine if someone lacks capacity and the importance of respecting individual autonomy and unwise decisions.
2. Applying the Principles and Key Concepts
This module delves into the practical application of mental capacity law, detailing how to make 'best interests' decisions, the legal requirements for consent and restraint, and the role of independent advocates.
3. Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
This module explains the legal framework of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), outlining the process for authorising a deprivation of liberty and its impending replacement by the Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS).
To receive a CPD Certificate in "Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards for Carers", you will need to pass a multiple-choice test at the end of each module.
You will have three attempts to successfully complete the tests. If you are unable to pass after three attempts, you will be directed back to the beginning of the module.
The course length is approximately 45 minutes.
The certificate is valid for 12 months.
